Busy Week!

This has turned out to be quite a busy week for Avery! Her social calendar sure fills up quick these days! :)

MONDAY~ Avery's 4 Month Birthday! Mondays are Daddy-in-Charge days as Mommy usually goes into work. This week Daddy & Avery came to check out where Mommy spends all of her Mondays & Saturdays - The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms - Avery had her first golf cart experience and enjoyed her tour of the Pavilion and Copperstone Inn Bed & Breakfast. Avery also went to Dairy Haus with Karly & EA ... but no ice cream for her just yet!




TUESDAY~ Avery's 4 Month Check-Up. Avery decided to sleep in a bit (resulting the whole house to sleep in as Avery's talking has become Mommy's alarm clock), so we missed our appointment! Oops! Good thing they were able to fit us in a couple of hours later. Avery once again got a raving review from Dr. Martinez. Our growing girl surely is growing ~ 14 lbs 8 oz & 25 3/4 inches long! That's 75% in weight & 90% in height! Nick's thinking we should get her a volleyball already & start practicing! :) Just kidding ~ we will let her play whatever sport she wants ... as long as she picks cheerleading! Just kidding again ... kind of! :) Avery then spent some time with Mommy, Daddy and Grandma at the Ledges Pool.




WEDNESDAY~ Avery's 4 Month Pictures! Mommy's old high school friend Kelsey has recently started up a little photography business on the side (nurse by day, baby photographer by night!) so we went to her new studio (she created an adorable studio in the basement of her house!) While Avery wasn't flashing us those cute toothless smiles she has been getting so good at, she got a lot of really great pictures! I will put them up on Shutterfly once I receive them, but here they are for those of you with Facebook! Kelsey's sister makes adorable headbands and other cute accessories. THURSDAY~ Today we head to Ella's Grandma's pool for another pool day and some quality time with Ashlee, Ella & Gabe! Happy Thursday!

17 weeks!

baby avery is 4 months old today! what a big & beautiful girl!!

Avery, start your engine!

Avery had a great time at her first Indycar race this weekend at the Iowa Speedway. Mommy could have won the "Mother of the Year" award for how unprepared I was with the cold weather! Good thing our friends Matt & Crystal invited us to their indoor box so we could stay warm all night (and keep Avery's ears from ringing!) We got to see 2 year old Lily and meet baby boy Zander - there are so many girl babies around here that it was so nice to finally meet a little boy! We also got to spend some quality time with Uncle Shane who just a week ago moved to Newton. Avery had her first overnight away from home and although she did have a quick 3:45am wake-up, she did really great at the race, at Shane's and in the 3.5+ hour car ride each way! We ended the weekend at my cousin's Kristen's graduation party and Avery & mom slept like babies (literally!) on Sunday night!

new toys!

since the weather has been so beautiful this week (sense the sarcasm?!) mommy decided to put together some new fun toys for avery to play with. now that she is getting so strong and starting to really grab everything, i think she is about ready for some new toys! she has been enjoying her bumbo seat for a couple of weeks now, but thanks to amazon prime (free, 2 day shipping!) we received a tray for it this morning so now avery can have fun in her seat! mommy also is very proud that she put together her jumperoo (all by herself, i might add!). avery is still a tiny bit too short for it, but she loves it already even though she is not jumping yet!

next up: avery's first road trip & first night away from home. mommy & avery are headed out on an adventure to newton, iowa to see uncle shane & attend the indy car race with matt, crystal, lily & zander koch! avery is excited to meet her new friends lily & zander! :) lots of pictures & stories to come. enjoy your weekend!

happy father's day everyone! i really hit the jackpot in marrying nick ... not only is he a great husband, he is an amazing daddy to avery! it's so cute to watch their relationship grow ~ she really recognizes his face & voice now and it makes him light up!

15 weeks

better late than never! :)

water baby

today was avery's first swim! her friend ella was nice to invite us over to her grandma amy's house to cool off in her pool! avery really liked it and looks forward to many more swims this summer!

i'm a big girl now

for the last 8 nights our beautiful baby has been sleeping through the night, and so we decided that monday night would be the perfect night to start avery in her own room in her crib. it might also have a little bit to do with the fact that she has almost outgrown her bassinet and could use the extra room in her crib! mommy was a little nervous and sad to put her down in her room, but it was a success! here's avery after she woke up this morning saying "look mommy - i slept all by myself and i am just fine!"

scrabble!

since all of my great tv shows have wrapped up for the summer (except for my real housewives, who are still going strong!) nick & i decided to play a friendly game of scrabble after dinner. as soon as i opened the box, i got an idea, so instead of actually playing scrabble (we never really did play!) i did this instead! :)
