4 + 5 months

So our little doodle is FIVE months old now ... practically 1/2 a year old!  My mom brought it to my attention that I never posted her 4 month photo, so here is a double dose of cute for you!

* sleeping {like a baby} in her crib!  I never thought we would see the day!  It took her a verrrrry long time to adjust to her crib & her room, but now she is in her crib for 2 naps/day (approx 10am + 2pm) and bedtime (approx 7:30/8pm - 7:30am).  Harper + crib = new bffs and mommy & daddy are ecstatic about it!  Also, turns out our girlie is a belly sleeper, no wonder why she kept trying to flip over in her swing!
* eating - still mommy's milk only - 4 times/day, about 4 hours apart.  I do give her a bottle {of breast milk} for her bedtime feeding just to make sure she is getting enough to fill up her belly, and then I pump before bed for the next night's bottle.
* playing - plays on her belly, turns over immediately if she is on her back.  Still loves her activity gym, tray toys, Marina the Mermaid and basically any toy you put in front of her!
* wearing - 6 month clothes + pjs and size 2 diapers.  It looks like Mother Nature is finally allowing spring to show up this weekend and continuing into next week, where it's looking like 60s & 70s, so I'm so excited to break out our warmer weather wardrobe.  All of Avery's 'hand-me-downs' are 6 month outfits, so we are racing the clock to stuff Harper into as many of them as possible before she jumps up another size!

Still waiting on those bottom teeth ... two months of teething & nothin'!

Springtime Sprucing

So my calendar says it is April, but you would never know it by looking outside.  So over this cold winter - but that's a rant for another day... because today, we are thinking spring!  My inventory of Easter decorations looks pathetic against my Halloween and Christmas stuff, but a few pops of pastel around the house can really cheer up a mood!  And lucky for me, I discovered a Target bag of Easter decs I bough last year on super 70% clearance so that was a fun surprise!

This garland was so easy to make, I couldn't even make a tutorial for it!  Take a long piece of ribbon, string plastic eggs 1 by 1 (holes already made) and hang it on up when you are done!  I absolutely love the colors of these Target eggs so I went a little ombre with it!
My $3 clearance yarn wreath from Target in all of it's glory!
One of my most favorite decorations I own are my sequin Easter eggs that I bought them from Pier 1 years and years ago.  5 eggs, 5 spots on my chandelier ... match made in sequin egg heaven!
Avery & Harper's Easter baskets - bought at Michaels.  Thank goodness Michaels sells the same baskets every year that we were able to find a perfect match for Harper this year!  Table runner is actually 4 place mats from Kohls.

God Bless Harper

Since Uncle Shane & Aunt Cat were in town last weekend for Cat's bridal shower, we decided we might as well get Harper baptized while they were home.  It was a busy weekend hosting 2 parties at my house back to back, but so worth it - it was so nice to be with family all weekend!  We had Harper baptized at the same church as Avery and in the same baptism gown.  Before Avery was baptized, I thought it would be sweet to find a gown that was gender neutral enough that no matter how many kids we had and no matter what their sexes were, that they could all wear the same gown.  In my perfect dream world, their kids would wear it, and their kids, and their kids......  a mama can dream right?!  So after a long hunt, I stumbled upon this one from Gymboree and fell in love!  Harper of course was perfect during the ceremony and Avery stole the show asking "Is Harper going swimming" right in the middle of it!  I didn't go as all out as I did for Avery's baptism, but still had a nice afternoon with our favorite pasta (I tripled the recipe!), salad, 2 huge bottles of reisling and some yummy cupcakes!

A match made in Iowa : Bridal Shower

Wow, what an action packed weekend!  This party planner is pooped!  I wanted to share the fun details of my future sister-in-law's bridal shower my mom and I threw for her this weekend.  Since her and my brother met in Iowa, fell in love in Iowa, currently live in Iowa and are getting married in Iowa, we only thought it was appropriate for her Illinois shower to be, well, Iowa themed!  It was casual, but cute - using red/white gingham, mason jars for drinks & centerpieces, burlap table runners, homemade mini pies and Iowa shaped cookies for guests to take home!  We had so much fun planning this party and I can't wait until June when she's officially my seester! :)
